“THE WEEKLY CHAKRA”

“ROOT”

Chakras are energy centers that run from the base of your spine out the top, or crown of your head.  The word chakra is a Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disc.  There are seven major chakras, each a circular wheel of light spinning in your energy system associated with certain body parts, a color stone element, and function.  By learning to tune into the energy of your chakras you can begin to embrace the fullness of who you truly are.  The goal of this article is not to teach you how to get in tune with your chakras you can research that on your own and I’m quite sure that you may find it interesting.  My goal is to share with you my weekly relationship with each of the seven chakras one week and one chakra at a time.

During a seven day week I strive to practice yoga at least five of those days, four days at home, and one day attending a class.  During my weekly yoga class the instructor always reminds us to be rooted and grounded through the feet when in standing poses, and the same grounding through our sit bones during sitting poses, which connects us to the earth, she also reminds us to engage our mula-bhanda (the root lock) to build your core and to give support during poses or asanas.

Root Chakra
Color: Red
Body:  Lymph system, teeth, and bones, elimination system
Location: At the base of your spine
Functions as our connection with the earth associated with our sense of security in the world, survival, self-esteem, and the materials things in life. This is where our physical and emotional stability and balance co-exist.

This week will cover my relationship with the “Root Chakra”

February 2ND ~ 9TH 2012

For me it’s very important to be real with my true self that allows me find that peaceful self from within which is very helpful weather it’s at home with family, hanging out with friends, meeting new people, shooting photos for BlackManInJapan Photo Blog, playing pool, practicing yoga, and so on.  Just because I’m centered or rooted doesn’t mean that everything will be smooth sailing, but being able to center myself by taking some deep breaths, not just breathing but concentrating on the breath through breath awareness and by visualizing it’s path as it enters and leaves my body which allows me to live in the moment, not thinking about a past negative moment that happened five minutes ago or hurrying to find a solution five minutes later, I just relax, and focus on living in the moment.  Believe it or not you can’t live in the past or future, only in the now.  My personal goal beginning this week and future weeks through my “Root Chakra” is to get in rhythm with the universal elements that we all are created from, air, water, earth, wind and fire (EW&F also one of my favorite R&B groups of all time).  Being in rhythm with those five universal elements that we are all made from including family, friends, the people that I meet, and the things I see and eat are very special.

For example; when I’m photographing images of things, I see them photographically, what appears to be a pile of junk when seen by the average person is just a pile of junk, but when properly focused and composed with the right exposure within the  viewfinder will be seen as a work of art.  The same goes when being in rhythm with humans, when my root chakra energy is flowing smoothly and is firmly rooted in the universe it creates a dynamic flow that has the potential to connect with others positive energies is a totally fulfilling experience.

Find a quiet place, sit in a comfortable seated position, close your eyes and b-r-e-a-t-h-e (even for just a few minutes), don’t just breathe visualize where the breath flowing though your body, not just flowing through your body, flowing to the tense parts of your body, breathe in and out through your nose, guide your breath from the root chakra all the way up to the crown chakra and back.

  1. The Psalms in the Old Testament of the Bible is full of information on mieatitdon. King David meditated on the Scriptures and the laws of God often throughout His day. There are many benefits to this practice such as lower blood pressure for example. What is mieatitdon? Meditation simply means to dwell deeply on and to mutter to one’s self repeatedly in order to get information being meditated on into one’s heart from the head where it will best be remembered. Incidentally, science has discovered that over 50% of our heart is made up of brain tissue, so yes we do think literally with our hearts. For proper mieatitdon, get comfortable and dismiss all disturbing thoughts out of your mind. Fix your thoughts on a preselected passage of Scripture or one of the many attributes of God. If you like, play soft music [without words], and this will help with concentration. For best results meditate for a total of 47 minutes daily. After 28 days of this, it is proven that your d.n.a. will even change for the better. You will be able to focus better, and improve memory skills.

This is very informative and i do agree that mediatation works for the body and the mind especially when combined with deep breathing. The part where you stated “fix your thoughts on a preselected passage of Scripture” since i live in Japan and very few Japanese people read the bible or believe in god where would they fix their thoughts? For example a buddhist person.

      Thanks,

      Peace & Namaste
